Epilab manufactures hair masks for Australian hair care brands. Deep repair, protein-rich, moisture-rich, bond-building and scalp-care positioning across jars, tubes and single-use sachets.

All masks made in Melbourne. Custom formulation, private label and white label under one roof. We have been making cosmetics here since 2011.

What we make

Treatment hair masks across repair, hydration, protein, bond-building, colour-protect, scalp-care and sensory-led positioning. Format options include jars (250g, 500g common), tubes (100g, 200g, 250g, 500g), and single-use sachets for retail trial or hotel amenity programs.

Three ways to launch a hair mask

Custom formulation

Custom hair masks are heavy lifters in any range, so the formulation work is more involved than a daily product. Six to twelve weeks. We work through emulsion stability, conditioning agent loading, protein selection, bond-care actives (where claimed), and the texture profile (thick, whipped, melting). MOQ starts at 500 units for jars and 3,000 units for tubes (tube filling has longer setup time).

Private label

Private label uses our library of treatment-grade emulsions. You select positioning (repair, hydration, bond, scalp) and apply your fragrance, colour, packaging and branding. Three to six weeks. Faster path with strong commercial outcomes.

White label

White label hair masks ready to ship with your label. Two to four weeks. The trade-off is less brand-specific positioning, the advantage is fastest time to shelf.

Minimum order quantities

Jar MOQ starts at 500 units. Tube MOQ starts at 3,000 units due to tube filling setup time. Sachet sampling programs run higher minimums per format. As volume grows, per-unit pricing improves at 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000-unit tiers.

Formulation considerations

Treatment masks are usually high-viscosity emulsions with elevated conditioning agent loading compared to rinse-out conditioner. The key formulation choices are emulsifier system (anionic, cationic, nonionic), cationic conditioning loading (behentrimonium methosulphate is common), protein selection (hydrolysed wheat, keratin, silk), and bond-building or repair actives. Texture targets vary from thick custard to whipped mousse to a melting-balm finish.

Cost transparency

Mask unit cost depends on actives density, packaging format (tubes are higher cost than jars), and decoration. Hero treatment masks with multiple actives, premium packaging and printed decoration sit at the upper end of hair care unit costs.

Frequently asked questions

Can you do a bond-building hair mask?

Yes. We can formulate using bond-care active families. We do not claim specific branded systems, so we build with off-patent active equivalents that target the same chemistry.

What is the MOQ for hair masks?

500 units for jars. 3,000 units for tube packaging. Higher per-unit costs at the lowest volume tiers.

Can you make a protein hair mask?

Yes. Hydrolysed wheat protein, hydrolysed keratin, hydrolysed silk and amino-acid blends are all standard.

Do you do scalp-care masks?

Yes. Scalp masks typically use exfoliating actives (salicylic acid, fruit acids), soothing agents (panthenol, allantoin), and a lighter conditioning base than hair-shaft masks.

Can you do a sachet sampling program?

Yes. Sachet fills are common for retail trial, magazine inserts, hotel amenity and hospitality programs.

How long is shelf life?

Typically 24 months for treatment masks, confirmed by stability testing.
