Hair Oil Manufacturer Australia
Australian hair oil manufacturer. Lightweight finishing oils, treatment oils, scalp oils and overnight masks made in Melbourne.
Epilab manufactures hair oils for Australian hair care brands. We cover lightweight finishing oils, treatment oils, scalp oils, overnight masks and pre-shampoo treatments.
All hair oils made in Melbourne. Custom formulation, private label and white label under one roof. Most hair oils are anhydrous so they are simpler to formulate than emulsions but require careful choice of base oils, esters and antioxidants.
What we make
Anhydrous hair oils across finishing, treatment, scalp, overnight and pre-wash positioning. Packaging includes glass dropper bottles, pump bottles and roll-on formats. Common sizes are 30ml, 50ml, 100ml.
Three ways to launch a hair oil
Custom formulation
Custom hair oils are formulated around a chosen base-oil blend (argan, jojoba, camellia, coconut MCT, abyssinian, marula, squalane), esters for slip and absorption, and any actives. Antioxidant stabilisation is important for shelf-life and clarity. Development is faster than emulsions, typically four to eight weeks. MOQ starts at 500 units.
Private label
Private label uses our existing oil library. You select base profile (lightweight, treatment, scalp), fragrance, packaging and branding. Three to six weeks.
White label
White label oils ready to ship with your label. Two to four weeks. Strong path for brands needing a fast launch.
Minimum order quantities
Hair oil MOQ starts at 500 units for most packaging formats. Glass dropper bottles, pump bottles and roll-ons are all available at this minimum. Per-unit pricing improves significantly at 2,000 and 5,000-unit tiers.
Formulation considerations
Hair oils are anhydrous (no water), so the formula is essentially a designed blend of oils and esters chosen for the target sensory profile. Lightweight finishing oils use volatile silicones or cyclomethicone alternatives, jojoba esters, and squalane. Treatment oils run heavier with marula, argan, camellia and broccoli seed oil. Antioxidant systems (tocopherol, BHT alternatives, rosemary extract) protect against oxidation and rancidity over shelf life.
Cost transparency
Hair oil unit cost is driven primarily by base-oil selection (squalane and marula cost significantly more than coconut MCT or jojoba) and packaging. Glass dropper bottles cost more than PCR pump bottles. Indicative ranges only.

Frequently asked questions
Can you do silicone-free hair oils?
Yes. We use cyclomethicone-free or fully silicone-free formulas using esters, plant oils and squalane for slip and shine.
What is the MOQ for hair oil?
500 units for most packaging formats including glass dropper bottles and pump bottles.
Can you make a heat-protect hair oil?
Yes. Heat-protect oils use specific esters and polymers that form a thermal barrier on the hair shaft.
Do you do scalp oils?
Yes. Scalp oils typically use lighter base oils, scalp-soothing actives, and may include rosemary, peppermint or tea tree essential oils.
How long is shelf life?
Typically 24 to 36 months for hair oils, dependent on antioxidant system. Stability testing confirms the actual shelf life for your formula.
Can you do organic-certified hair oils?
We can work with COSMOS or ACO-compatible ingredients but full certification has additional cost and audit requirements. We scope this at the brief stage.
