Hair Serum Manufacturer Australia
Australian hair serum manufacturer. Anti-frizz, heat-protect, shine and bond-care leave-in serums made in Melbourne.
Epilab manufactures hair serums for Australian hair care brands. Anti-frizz, heat-protect, shine, smoothing, bond-care and treatment positioning, all as leave-in products.
All serums made in Melbourne. Custom formulation, private label and white label under one roof. Hair serums are mostly leave-in, applied to damp or dry hair, so the formulation choices differ significantly from rinse-out products.
What we make
Leave-in hair serums in pump-bottle, dropper-bottle and spray-mist formats. Positioning ranges across anti-frizz, heat-protect, shine, smoothing, frizz-control, weightless gloss and bond-care.
Three ways to launch a hair serum
Custom formulation
Custom hair serums are designed around a target finish (weightless, glossy, frizz-tamed, heat-protected) and a leave-in feel. Formulation works through silicone or silicone-alternative selection, polymer system for film-forming, conditioning agents that survive leave-in application, and any actives. Six to ten weeks. MOQ starts at 500 units.
Private label
Private label hair serums use our existing leave-in formula library. Three to six weeks. You select positioning, fragrance and packaging.
White label
White label serums ready to ship with your label. Two to four weeks.
Minimum order quantities
Serum MOQ starts at 500 units for most pump and dropper formats. Spray-mist serums use trigger or fine-mist pumps and follow the same minimum. Tube-packaged serums (less common) follow the 3,000-unit tube minimum.
Formulation considerations
Hair serums often use silicone or silicone-alternative film-formers as the backbone (cyclomethicone, dimethicone, or silicone-free alternatives like camellia oil and plant-derived emollients). Leave-in conditioning agents include hydrolysed proteins, polyquats, and amino acid blends. Heat-protect positioning uses specific polymers tested to thermal-protect range (typically up to 230C styling tool temperatures). Anti-frizz positioning uses humectant balance and film-formers that resist humidity.
Cost transparency
Serum unit cost is driven by silicone selection (or silicone-alternative cost), actives density and packaging. Silicone-free heat-protect serums typically cost more than silicone-based versions due to ingredient cost.

Frequently asked questions
Can you make a silicone-free hair serum?
Yes. Silicone-free serums use plant-derived emollients, esters and polymer systems for the slip and shine that silicones traditionally provide.
What is the MOQ for hair serum?
500 units for pump, dropper and mist formats.
Can you make a heat-protect serum?
Yes. Heat-protect serums are tested to perform under styling-tool temperatures up to 230C.
Do you make leave-in bond-care serums?
Yes. Bond-care leave-ins use off-patent active families that target the same disulphide and hydrogen bond chemistry as branded systems.
Can serums be vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Both are standard. We build to the constraint set in the brief.
How long is shelf life?
24 to 36 months for most leave-in serums, confirmed by stability testing.
