Epilab manufactures curly hair products for Australian hair care brands targeting textured, wavy, curly and coily hair types. The curly hair category has its own formulation logic and we build to it.

All curly hair products made in Melbourne. Custom formulation, private label and white label under one roof. Curl care is one of the fastest-growing hair sub-categories internationally and we have been seeing the same trend in Australia.

What we make

Curl-defining creams, curl gels, curl milks, refresh sprays, leave-in curl conditioners, curl masks and curl-care shampoo and conditioner pairs. Formats cover the full curly routine, from cleanse to define to refresh.

Three ways to launch a curly hair product

Custom formulation

Custom curly hair products are formulated around the target curl type (wavy, curly, coily, coiled) and the target hold/definition outcome. Six to ten weeks. MOQ starts at 500 units for most liquid and cream formats.

Private label

Private label curl products use our existing library. Three to six weeks. Strong path for brands launching a curl-specific line.

White label

White label curl products ready to ship with your label. Two to four weeks.

Minimum order quantities

Pump-bottle and spray-bottle MOQ starts at 500 units. Tube-packaged curl cream MOQ starts at 3,000 units. Jar curl masks start at 500.

Formulation considerations

Curl care formulation prioritises moisture retention, definition without crunch (or controllable crunch where positioning calls for it), and frizz control. Conditioning agent loading is higher than daily-use products. Humectants need careful balance, glycerin and other humectants behave differently in different humidity environments. Polymer choice determines definition vs flexibility. CG-method-compatible formulation (no sulphates, no drying alcohols, no non-water-soluble silicones) is a specific brief we can build to.

Cost transparency

Curl product unit cost depends on conditioning loading, actives and packaging. Treatment-grade curl creams with rich emollient profiles sit at the upper end of hair care unit costs.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make CG-method compatible curl products?

Yes. We build to the curly-girl method constraint set, no sulphates, no drying alcohols, no non-water-soluble silicones, sulphate-free cleansing.

What is the MOQ for curly hair products?

500 units for most formats. 3,000 for tube-packaged cream.

Can you formulate for coily and 4-type hair?

Yes. Higher conditioning loading, richer emollient profiles, and specific humectant balances for higher-porosity hair.

Do you do refresh sprays for second-day curls?

Yes. Refresh sprays are water-based with light conditioning agents and minimal hold polymer.

Can curl products be vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Standard. We build to the constraint set in the brief.
